Very good value for this instrument. It was ordered and was received ahead of the promise date. Measurements were compared to other instruments and the readings are accurate. The instructions could be improved somewhat but are reasonable as a 'reminder' after spending time with the various buttons and sub menus. I would purchase this again. More : http://amzn.to/2oIugAB
Black - Decker TLD100 Thermal Leak Detector
This works great as IR (infared) thermometer and as a back up IR imager. You can scan temperature variations over time or over neighboring surfaces. This is not a NIST quality measurement tool, so if you use with that understanding then this will be a great addition for any Green Building professional as well as any home owners that wants to improve home energy efficiency.
Kintrex IRT0421 Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer with Laser Targeting
It works good but the battery holder didn't fit good, I had too trim the plastic some. Cats like to chase the laser. After reading reviews of various IR thermometers I ordered the Kintrex model IRT0412, it has performed perfectly and met all of my needs. I would recommend this to friends and family alike.
Water Leaks Check FLIR Systems 64501-0302 E60 IR Camera with MSX
The new FLIR E60 thermal camera can help professionals track down electrical and mechanical overheating, air and water leaks, missing insulation and many other issues. The FLIR E60 has an IR resolution of 76,800 (320x240) pixels, which far exceeds the RESNET standard.
BAFX Products (TM) - Non Contact - Infrared (IR) Thermometer
This is more accurate than I thought it would be. It's easy to use. It's so easy that I use it whenever a surface reading gives me enough control of the cooking process.
Nubee® Temperature Gun Non-contact Infrared Thermometer
Assuming it is relatively accurate, which it appears to be (+/- 2% or 2C), this is a great little tool. Admittedly, I haven't found a ton of uses for it yet, but it is interesting for comparing new windows to old windows (10F difference in surface temp). The backlight and laser both work great and add to the ease of use. Battery life seems plentiful as well. Overall a great product, especially if you can find a regular use for it!

Product Description
Heating and cooling accounts for about 50 percent of your energy usage, but the average house has enough leaks and drafts to equal a 1 sq. ft. hole. Cut down on wasteful spending with the help of the Thermal Leak Detector from Black and Decker .The TLD100 is an infrared sensor that finds these leaks along walls, molding, ductwork and more. Auto color change provides quick, intuitive feedback, showing users where to caulk, insulate, etc.
The Black & Decker thermal leak detector helps you increase the efficiency of your home's insulation by finding leaky areas that can lead to higher heating and cooling bills. You'll instantly identify problem areas around drafty windows and doors, and uncover hidden leaks and insulation "soft spots" around your home. Check windows, ducts, and walls with the thermal reference light that indicates hot and cold spots. You can even use the detector to diagnose engine misfires or check your refrigerator and freezer settings.
Easy-to-Read Color Coding and Screen
The thermal leak detector makes it easy to monitor your home's energy efficiency by finding areas that let heat out and cold air in. Simply set the detector's temperature tolerances to one, five, or 10 degrees and scan the light across the area you want to inspect. The light will change to red for warmer spots and blue for cooler spots to detect air leaks in both warm and cool weather. The detector also displays temperatures in either Fahrenheit or Celsius on the LCD screen. Check for drafts or leaks around your fireplace, recessed lighting, electrical outlets, along floor molding, or any place that may have improper seals, caulking, or seams that aren't immediately visible. An included booklet gives you tips and instructions on how to seal leaks and improve insulation.
Cut Energy Bills and Improve Your Home's Efficiency
Sealing the leaks and improving insulation in your home can help you save as much as 20 percent on your heating and cooling bills. An efficient, greener home will stay cooler in summer and warmer in winter, increasing its resale value.
Multiple Uses to Handle Uncommon Tasks
Use the thermal leak detector to check your refrigerator and freezer temperatures and efficiency. Diagnose engine problems related to overheating or coolant leaks to avoid costly repairs and mechanic bills down the road. The thermal leak detector can also check the operation of your HVAC system, so you can perform preventative maintenance as needed.
The Black & Decker thermal leak detector is covered by a two-year warranty.

While putting them together, I touched both contacts with my finger and the alarm went off. If it's sensitive enough to activate from that, water won't be a problem. We have built-in water alarms for our security system, but I wanted to monitor some additional areas without going through the whole installation process. I just need to remember to replace the batteries regularly.
My insurance does not cover water leaks and when I heard this detector beeping, I quickly checked under my sink and spotted the drip which soon enough would have been a flood. I repaired the water line and was grateful the Zircon Water Leak Detector was doing it's job!!
We bought these after our washer leaked during a downpour (so we didn't hear the leak). Of course, we haven't needed them since. We tested them by spilling water on the floor around them, and they work. I did accidentally spill a glass of water, and it went off. It's quite loud and annoying (as it should be). My one complaint is that one night, one of them went off with a false alarm. I was awoken from a deep sleep and ran all the way into the basement, my heart pounding with fear as I wondered what watery mess awaited me, and...nothing. I guess I'd rather have a false alarm than no alarm at all, but still...
For the money, they will do the job. The only thing to point out is that these, like any water alarm, work when little metal prongs on the bottom come into contact with water. So you could conceivably have a water spill two inches away, but if it doesn't reach the water alarm, it will not get activated. Because these are inexpensive, we bought a lot of them and put them anywhere we're likely to need them--sink, washer, sump pump, etc.
We depended for years on the one we first purchased, it stopped working and we were frantic to have it replaced, could only get on Amazon, we ordered two, two days waiting was like an eternity ! We were so happy they came so quickly, and now have a back up! Hope that we'll always be able to find again if ever needed, we live by a creek and need to know if the sump pump should fail, Zircon water alarm has always been our godsend!
We have an extraordinarily active toddler who loves to play in the sinks upstairs. Our home also happens to have one of the dumbest types of sinks I've ever seen in my life - ones with no overflow protection, in upstairs bathrooms no less! C'mon home builders, really? I'm no nanny-state proponent but I can't believe that's not a code violation. It's certainly a common sense violation though, so shame on Pulte Homes for installing such a thing up there in the first place.
I don't suppose I have to explain what happens when a toddler who loves water stops up a sink and keeps the water running while he's "washing his hands." After an event or two though, I looked around for some sort of alarm and found these Zircon units. They fit the bill perfectly. My little guy is terrified of them, and since they were "installed" on the bathroom floors it only took a couple of subsequent events (that consisted of spilled water, alarm sounding, and him tearing out of the bathroom like he saw the boogeyman) for him to agree with me that water on the floor is a bad thing.

However the best thing about this is if you get a model with firmware 1.19.1 or lower (basically Jan 2014 or earlier), it is relatively easy to modify the device's Windows CE operating system and unrestrict the hardware. This effectively turns it into a six grand E8 model. All the E range FLIRs use the *same hardware*!
Google for EEVblog FLIR E4 and you will find what you need to do this. The mods on this blog actually extend features beyond the expensive E8.
Pretty easy to get done and easily reversed if need be. :-)
WARNING: FLIR have caught on and all hardware with firmware 1.21 and up are locked down and currently noone has released a workaround.
One deficit... No external charger and no removable SD card:
You have to plug in a micro USB to charge and get your files.
I just bought a USB extension cord so I don't have to keep plugging directly into the board mounted USB slot to charge the battery and get the files. I also anticipate it failing eventually and the socket falling off the board.
I may even open it up and solder it directly to the board and figure a way to mount the socket externally.
The new FLIR E60 thermal camera can help professionals track down electrical and mechanical overheating, air and water leaks, missing insulation and many other issues.
The FLIR E60 has an IR resolution of 76,800 (320x240) pixels, which far exceeds the RESNET standard. Compact, rugged and user-friendly, the FLIR E60 has a 3.5" color LCD touchscreen display with Auto-Orientation, wide-angle manual-focus lens, 4X digital IR zoom and built-in 3.1MP digital camera with LED lamp and laser pointer for capturing high-quality reference images. The FLIR E60 features Bluetooth connectivity to mobile devices for real-time remote viewing and diagnostics.
And with METER Link on board the camera can connect to FLIR's new test tools, which stream electrical and environmental readings directly to the FLIR E60 so that thermal images are automatically annotated with critical measurements to further support findings. The camera also includes FLIR's exclusive MSX imaging technology, which integrates key image details from the digital camera's photos to create sharper and clearer thermal scenes.
MSX makes it easier to see the location of temperature-related electrical/mechanical issues without obscuring or compromising the integrity of the original thermal scenes - a common problem with older image blending modes. Also, the bundled FLIR Tools software makes it simple to import, analyze and incorporate images into easy-to-understand reports. And like all FLIR thermal cameras, the FLIR E60 captures Fully Radiometric thermal JPEG files containing all temperature data, which can be viewed and analyzed later within the thermal images.
The FLIR E60 includes SD memory card with adapter, Li-ion battery, two-bay charging station, power adapter, USB cable, hard case and FLIR Tools software for PC and Mac OS. The new FLIR E60 is covered by FLIR's premier 10-5-2 warranty, which provides a 10-year warranty on the IR detector, 5 years on field-replaceable batteries and 2 years on parts and labor.

This item was presented as a new item, but when I received it, it had been used by someone with greasy hands which led me to believe this was a used item that I sent back, as a Federal employee, we are not allowed to purchase used items.
We use this as a 'quick and dirty' method of looking into animal burrows and although it's adequate for visualizing larger critters, the lens of the camera is definitely not suited for much abuse. After about 6 months of light duty, the image appears mildly unfocused and it's difficult to see the LCD screen in any sort of sunlight. Makes me wish I had purchased a tool with better quality imaging but it fits the bill if image quality is not of utmost import but low price is.
This camera works great! it works better that some I have used that cost more than $300. The wireless display really makes this camera much easier to use than the one that are wired to the snake. Great picture quality and a great deal.
These seem to be hit or miss with quality... mine missed. The image is so blurry that you cannot tell what you are looking at even when you are within inches of it. There is no way to focus, the LED lighting is supposed to be adjustable but is really off or on.
If you can't get a good return policy, I would spend a few extra and get on with a better screen. Luckily I was able to return mine.
The cable thickness does limit what you can use it for, but it's meant for looking behind walls, etc. and it does that job perfectly. It's fairly sturdy and the camera does not bend much, which is exactly what I needed it for.
For the price, this is the best product of it's kind that I could find. The LCD is removable, so you can hold it about 20 ft or so from the actual camera, and you can TV out the output of this to a laptop or recorder.
Quite good for the price. Maybe next time they will make the cable smaller and more flexible. Till then, this is a great deal instead of an awesome deal.

This Non-contact Infrared Thermometer w/ Laser Sight works well so far. It is about a two to four degrees off, so if you need some really critical temperature readings you may want to spend a few more dollars. This is fun to use also! Like so many products today, the directions are always the best - like it tells you to insert the battery, but it has no description of how to open the battery compartment, which is the entire front of the handle under the trigger. It used a standard 9v. battery. It has no off/on switch - just squeeze the trigger and aim. The display shows for about 8-10 seconds. The shipper needs a lesson on boxing a shipment. The ends of the box were open and it is amazing this did not fall out in transit.
The item arrived on time and it has performed very well. I use it for my soap making. I've compared it with other tempeture measuring devices and this thing is spot on. It didn't get 5 stars only because it feels like a toy in my hand but it's light weight hasn't let me down yet.
It is so easy to use and so fast that you will want to check the temperature of everything you are making. The water/yeast mixture for a pizza crust needs to be at 110 degree? No problem. Hum, I wonder how cold my fridge is really getting my food? How hot is that tea anyway? These and countless other pressing questions can be answered with the pull of the trigger.

The evening it came, I gave it a try. The temperature is way off.. on both ends of the scale.
Using a digital cooking thermometer, I measured hot and cold water running at the tap, the
BAFX was at least 10 degrees low on the low side and 20 degrees off on the high side. THen
I measured some copper heating pipes. I have two loops that have input and outflow themometers .. input was about 160 degrees on both supplies. The BAFX indicatred 110! Then I measured the supply to the (zone) hot water heater. The BAFX reported 82 degrees, yet, I could not hold my hand on the pipe.. it must have been much higher than 82!! Returned to Amazon the next day.
PART 2: BAFX Customer support emailed me. If I was interested, he would arrange
to ship me a new unit. If I liked it, I could keep it and pay for it, if not he would include
a return pre-paid label. I was impressed with his support, so I agreed. I've had it about 2 weeks
now. It works just as described and correlated very closely with the other (kitchen/room)
thermometers around the house. Though the first one failed, with good customer support
and the second one working, I would recommend this to anyone interested in one.
Got this thermometer yesterday afternoon and was able to put the battery in all by myself (oh yeah, I am that handy, lol), and it worked. Haven't really used it to test anything yet but I like it. I even read the directions on how to use it and how not to use it. I also like the yellow color because it is easy to spot in my kitchen drawer. I am planning on using it for testing my oven temperature and now after reading the directions, I will test skillets and maybe even foreheads for fevers. Also, the numbers are large enough that you can actually read them. Yeaa.
Don't keep looking any longer, this is the one to get without worrying if you got a good one, and got a good price. I use this much more than I thought I ever would. I keep it in the drawer my the stove just so I can keep track of everything as it heats up. You will like this.
The first one I received was HORRIBLY inaccurate. Off by about 50 degrees, and yes, I was using the correct mode. The "sensor" appeared well off center in the housing and the laser was way out of alignment. Maybe it was dropped somewhere before it got to me.
The replacement was tip top. When compared to another known calibrated unit, the replacement was pretty much spot on. The laser was also adequately aligned. No complaints. For the $$, a very good IR thermometer.
